Development Partners Group Convenes 3rd Meeting

07 November 2025

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO) convened the 3rd regional meeting of the Development Partners Group for the Sudan Regional Refugee Crisis (DPG ) on 6 November 2025. This meeting was the DPG’s second full-day, in-person event (following the first in-person meeting in September 2024). An estimated 115 people joined the discussion in Nairobi, with an additional 150 online. Established in September 2024 to mobilize and highlight early development support in response to the Sudan crisis, the regional DPG has organized two Senior Officials meetings a year on the Sudan regional crisis, as well as additional ad hoc meetings on specific topics.

Objectives of this meeting:

  • Take stock of progress made since the 1st regional meeting in September 2024, and subsequent online meetings (April 2025–regional, June 2025–response in Eastern Chad, September 2025 – returns to and within Sudan) on how development partners are responding to the crisis in Sudan and countries of asylum and return.

  • Reflect on ways to ensure timely and additional development financing to complement humanitarian interventions, all for more effective action across the region.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance development actor coordination on the Sudan regional refugee crisis.
