Abstract

A rapid livelihoods assessment was conducted to support Renk county in encouraging local integration and resilience for the returnee population settled in Abukadra site, who were settled in the site in December 2025 after prolonged stay in a transit center. The assessment aimed at gathering information on the kind of livelihoods assistance the newly settled returnees and host community members would prefer as part of the recovery and resilience building is concerned. As part of this initiative, a Rapid Livelihoods Assessment was conducted in mid-January – mid February 2026, through the inter-agency collaboration. The objective of the assessment was to gather actionable data and findings at the Abukadra host community to gain a better understanding of the livelihoods initiatives and preference for the returnees and host community. This information is crucial for identifying potential economic programming for resilience and recovery initiatives for returnees, refugees and host community settled in Abukadra.
