UNDP Publishes Two New Reports Highlighting Peace Initiatives and Voices from Across Sudan
Published in October 2025, the report Bridging Divides: Local Peace Initiatives in Sudan explores six locally led peace initiatives across Darfur and Kordofan, where communities stepped up to mediate tensions, prevent violence, and maintain social cohesion amidst Sudan’s war. Through interviews, field insights, and case studies, the report highlights how community leaders, youth groups, and traditional structures are working to reopen markets, restore mobility, and protect lives. These stories show that even in the absence of stability, local resilience and leadership can chart a path toward peace. The report offers practical lessons for policymakers and peacebuilding actors on the value of supporting grassroots efforts during crisis.
Published in July 2025, the booklet Transformative Stories brings together voices from across Sudan: women rebuilding their communities, young people leading peace efforts, and families regaining access to healthcare, livelihoods, and clean water through support from UNDP and its partners. From solar-powered farms in River Nile to mobile health teams in Gedaref, these are not just stories of survival, but of transformation. Together with local actors and donors, UNDP is helping to restore dignity, strengthen communities, and lay the foundations for a more stable future.
